Emerald Class visited the St Francis (Cof E) Church and was shown various features of the church. They reinforced their learning about Holy Week and, in particular, Maundy Thursday by reading from the Bible and witnessing Revd. Josias wash the feet of Mr Philby in a manner similar to that of Jesus with his disciples at the Last Supper. The children were also shown where the vicar prepartes the Holy Communion elements of the bread and wine and the observed a Holy Communion service as it was taking place.

The children of Emerald Class celebrated the wonders of books for World Book Day. They recreated their own book covers and made bookmarks using watercolour paints. They delighted the children of Ruby Class by reading their special book that they had brought in as well as sharing their own with their peers.

Emerald Class explored the faith of Judaism. They investigated the commandment in Deuteronomy 6:9 which says, "You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates" and made their own Mezuzah, which included a piece of scripture.

Emerald Class were priviledged to be visited by our very own resident artist and published author, Mr Nick Wonham! The children were fascinated to learn how he created his various print images and were shown some of the tools he uses to make individual printing blocks. They were shown a limited edition letter press book made by Mr Wonham as well as a limited edition accordion book showing scenes through the seasons.
