Do you sometimes wonder where to go for advice about small family problems?
Are you worried that by asking for help it means social care will become involved?
This is not the case (unless a child is in danger) and this is where Families First is there for you.
Families First is the name for organisations in Hertfordshire who work together to help you with any problems you or your family may be facing, before things might get worse. Most of the Families First teams are not social workers – they work in ‘early help’. Early help is available if you’re worried about anything affecting your family, including your child’s development or behaviour, housing or money worries, health, drug or alcohol issues in the family or if you simply want to join a parenting group or find activities for your child.
You may not want or need to ask for help from a professional – there is lots you can do yourself by looking on this website where you will find information about a support. Browse the Families First website, if you can’t find what you’re looking for, email us at familiesfirst.support@hertfordshire.gov.uk and we’ll put it right.
Hitchin Partnership provides a family support service to schools in Hitchin and the surrounding villages. We work alongside families giving practical support and user friendly parenting strategies.
The team is experience in supporting families where children have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and provides advice on friendship and bullying issues.
This includes looking at family routines, addressing attendance and challenging behaviour.
Through funding from schools, the support of local community groups and fundraising we provide practical help in times of hardship and crisis. Our service prides itself on joined up working between all settings from Children Centre's through to Secondary Schools which means the whole family is supported to ensure the very best outcomes. This in turn helps families build confidence with parenting approaches, providing children with happier and healthier lives to enable them to achieve their best.
